Coming down to the wire...

Hi everyone. Two weeks left till our end date (10/12) but it's plenty of time to finish. If you need any help or have questions let me know just don't all wait till the 11th please.

I updated the participants list to highlight the people who have finished so congrats to all of them and give them a pat on the back if you can figure out who is who that is. If I missed anyone just let me know and I'll straighten it out.

Week 9

Last week. This week is some fun and handy things on the web. Don't worry though if you aren't close to finishing. We'll be continuing the program for a few more weeks to allow more people to finish. If you have any questions or need any help just let me know.

Week 8

It's week 8 and we're almost done. If you haven't kept up during the summer don't worry your not alone. We'll be continuing the program even after next week so everyone can experience all of the 23 things. If you are still working on some of the previous weeks don't feel pressured to keep up. It's summer and this is supposed to be fun. Just keep working on it as time allows and when an end date is decided on we'll announce it. Until then just keep asking me if you run into any problems or have any questions.

Week 7 - Wiki Week

It's wiki week. This is an easy week with only two things in it. The week focuses on wikis. The biggest and best known wiki is probably Wikipedia. Everything in a wiki is user submitted so you have to remember that some times bad information can be submitted but since anyone can edit a wiki it is usually fixed. Wikipedia even has an online reference desk where people can leave questions for volunteers to answer. Play around with the different wikis and post your thoughts on you blog. Remember blog posts don't have to be long and complicated. The post can just be your quick thoughts on a thing and if you found it useful or not.

Reminder about Blog entries

Just a reminder for everyone about their blog entries. The blogs are just a way for you to reflect on the individual things. You don't have to incorporate every different thing into a blog entry. If you don't like or don't think you would use the thing then your blog post can be just that. The main purpose of the 23 things is to experience new web technologies. Have fun exploring and just post some thoughts on your blogs.

The first link for del.icio.us doesn't work anymore. It was supposed to take you to a 12 minute video on the site. Instead you can try this 8 minute video which is by the same group.

End of week 4

I know people are all over with the 23 things and some are skipping around so here is a link that got passed on to me about yahoo avatars. It gives instructions for adding a READ shirt onto your avatar. I thought it was neat so thanks Lucinda.

Contact me if you need any help at all with this. Sometimes the instructions aren't too clear. Don't worry if you seem to have trouble starting with the first few things, it's easy to get caught up and they get easier after thing four. Remember to have fun with it don't think of it as work.

Week 4 and still growing

We're into week four now and we've added a few more blogs to the list. If you know anyone else who hasn't joined up yet encourage them to come join the fun. The registration is still open and if anyone has any issues send me an email or call me.

Remember you can respond to the blog posts made by other people. Just click on the little pencil icon under the post. Leave messages for each other. It's not just about learning the web it's also supposed to be fun as well.

Cecil County Public Library is very pleased to announce our participation in the statewide Maryland Libraries Learning 2.0 - 23 Things project. The program runs from June 18 - Sept. 14, 2007. Registration closes on June 8, 2007. So sign up now to qualify for prizes, CEUs, learning and fun this summer!

CEUs and Prizes
You can earn 1.8 CEUs by completing this program. Also, there will be great prizes as you complete 7 things, then 14 things, then all 23 things. Those who complete all 23 things also get a chance in the grand prize drawing for 3 MP3 players! Special thanks go to the Friends of the Library who support our learning efforts by funding the prize incentives.

Thing 4 Details
To complete Thing #4, you'll need to Register Your Blog. Please use your WORK email address, as registration is monitored. Remember that your blog address can be anonymous on your blog, but your liaison needs to know the address so you can be added to our Participant Blog List. She will also need your completed Tracking Log at the end of the project. You don't want to miss out on CEUs or prizes!
